OUR ORGANIZATION

My name is Israel Kisanga and I am the founder and director of the OVERWOME Foundation. I am glad to invite all of you, especially those who are interested to work with us. I will give you a warm welcome. You found the right way to our website; here you will find information about our activities, achievements and goals but also challenges and ways for support.

The OVERWOME was registered in 2013 as an official Tanzanian non-governmental organization consisting of twelve main members. The twelve members are fundamental to OVERWOME's wide range of competences, including agriculture, law, entrepreneurship, management, health care and accounting. Furthermore, there has been energetic support of two volunteers coming from Germany.

OUR ACTIVITIES

The motto of our organization is short and concise: First the theory, then the practice. Our principle is education and for that we deal with global sustainability issues such as poverty alleviation, gender equality, education improvement and environmental conservation. Previous areas of activity include the Water Catchment Management Project, the Hard Waste Management Project and Financial Management in cooperation with VICOBA (Village Community Bank). 

We are currently working on a 15-year program that will be effective from 2020. This program includes five global thematic areas of activity. Further details can be found on this website.

OUR OFFER

We offer a very pleasant working atmosphere. Appreciation and recognition of the activities of all contributing persons are very important to us. Direct communication between the members and the Executive Director is our basis of trust. In summary, our environment offers opportunities for your self-development. Your welfare is also provided regarding to accommodation and food.

OUR FIGHT

While this country is enriched with all kind of resources like minerals, farming land and even tourist attractions like national parks, the main challenge for most Tanzanians is the poverty they are living in. Most of the communities’ life status is beyond one US dollar so that not even the basic needs can be fulfilled.

Feeling deeply moved by this awful situation we saw the great need to come up with sensible, immediate solutions to combat those difficulties. Therefore the Organization involves in supporting activities in day to day life aiming to boost and fasten the development of communities and individuals’ lives. 

Our future plan is to create an environment in which the community will benefit through our program and no individual will be left behind. By this manner, we aspire to set a starting point in which the people are able to find a way of profiting from the enormous resources and build up their own lives. 

We strive for spreading our ideas and we look forward to partner with any person, group or organization willing to support us to reach our objectives. We are looking for partnerships as well as financial support and appreciate every sort of contact with people who feel committed!
